Dad's Journey

THE START

Green Green Green

It all started in 2022, Conner was invited to a B-Day party at our local karting center in Eindhoven. He came home and wanted to go back. Being a good father I contacted the center and found out that they had a special arrangement on Sunday mornings for young kids to drive and get some experience. I had visited the place in the past but a lot had changed. Hezemans Indoor karting was not operating anymore with petrol driven kart, they were fully converted to electrical karts. The noise had left the building and the only sound was the squeaking sound of the tyers and karts  sometime hitting the protecting sides of the track.

I think as most people I was a bit skeptical in the beginning, the sound and smell was gone. However the fun remained and maybe even got better as the acceleration of the electrical karts is stronger. Side advantage was that the maximum speed for the young kids was coordinated and all karts were going at the same (slow) speed not freighting the kids.

We noticed that Conner really enjoyed the racing and soon was able to manage and control the kart and with his length passing 1.20 m he was able to ride in the older age group going a little faster. My wife and I saw enthusiasm and after some searching on the internet we found the ideal birthday gift for him – 2 morning training at The Home of Champions in Genk Belgium. The track were Max Verstappen also did his first training.
